Resume Tips

Resume Do's

  • Do present your resume in a chronological format, with current position first.
  • Do present a bullet format, as it is easier to read.
  • Do include brief description of companies and approximate revenue size.
  • Do include dates for each individual position AND all inclusive dates for given company.
  • Do present your job content and accomplishments.
  • Do include dates of degrees and certifications.
  • Do create a Systems section, including spreadsheet, accounting software, databases, etc.

Resumes Don'ts

  • Don't write a functional resume.
  • Don't exceed 2 pages.
  • Don't exclude any work experience in your chronology of experience.
  • Don't present a resume so detailed that your reader gets lost and cannot see the forest for the trees.
  • Don't include references and/or salaries on your resume.
